Blackbird Song -- Intermission

I'm hanging on
Here until I'm gone
I'm right where I belong
Just hanging on

Sometimes all we can do is hang on. When there's nothing, when the emptiness fills you, fills your thoughts, your chest, your heart, it gets harder to hang on. Chest like straw, heart like a leaden weight, empty, but with sharp edges that remind you of that lack. The emptiness that only the truly lonely know, the lost, the hopeless. Those souls who have lost everything and live to tell the tale, they know. All you can do is hang on.

Sometimes your hands slip, you lose your grip, but if you're lucky, you have someone in your life who holds you and them both above water. They hold you up, even though sometimes you wish they would just let go. Let you go. Let it all go. Let you drown in your misery.

Because the darkness has its own perverse kind of romance. There aren't love stories or movies about that kind of romance, but it exists.

The never hurt don't understand that. The once hurt/now healed know it, it's not one of those lessons you learn in school, or from your parents, or from a public service announcement. It's the kind of lesson that your parents pray you'll never know.

Hanging on.
Just hanging on. That's where we are right now. Just hanging on.

Sal, Sal, Sally-Sal.

You and this blackbird stuff always inspire me to write.

Then I turn on the television and return to normal.

I kind of wish I didn't know what you were talking aboot (exhales), but I do.

But it's like that old saying goes, when you come to the end of your rope, tie a knot and hang on.

Live today as the last time
Live today as the last time
When the wife of George Carlin's dead, Carlin, known for wit and satirist, 70-80th years, wrote this incredibly expressive story, it is appropriate today.

The paradox of our time is that we have tall buildings, but a low tolerance, wide highways, but the narrow views.
Spend more but have less, we buy more, but less rejoice.
We have big houses, but smaller families, better amenities, but less time.

We have the best education, but less than the mind, the best knowledge, but worse than assess the situation, we have more experts but more problems, the best medicine, but worse health.
We drink too much, smoke too much, spend too recklessly, laugh too little, travel around too fast, angry too easily, we go to bed too late, get up too tired, read too little, watch TV too much, and pray too seldom.
Increased their claims, but the reduced value.

We speak too much, love too seldom and hate too often.
We know how to survive, but do not know how to live.
Adding a year to human life, but do not add life to years.

Reached the moon and back, but with difficulty crossing a street and get acquainted with the new neighbor.
Conquering outer space but not emotional.
Making big, but not the best case
.
Clear the air, but pollute the soul.
Subjugated the atom, but not their prejudices.
We write more, but learn less.

We plan more, but making less.
They've learned to rush, but not to wait.
Create new computers that store more information and emit streams of copies than ever, but we communicate less and less.

This time, fast food and bad digestion, big men and small shower, a quick profit and difficult relationships
Time of growth in household income and growth in the number of divorces, beautiful homes and destroyed their homeland.
Time short distances, disposable diapers, one-time moral bonds per night overweight and pills that do everything: excite us, calm us, kill us by the ...

Time filled windows and empty warehouses.
A time when technology can get this letter to you, at the same time allow you to share them or simply press "Delete".
Remember, spend more time with those you love, because they disagree with you forever.

Remember, say kind words of those who looks at you from the bottom up in admiration, because this little creature will soon grow up and it will not be near you.
Remember the warm and hold a loved one to yourself, because it is the only treasure that can give from the heart, and it is not worth a dime.

Remember and say "I love you" to your loved ones, but first really feel.
Kiss and a hug can fix any trouble when they walk from the heart.
Remember and hold hands and appreciate the moments when you are together, because one day this person will not be with you.

Take time to love, find time to socialize and take time to be able to share all that you have to say.
Because life is not measured by the number of take a breath, and the moment when the thrills!

As Mad Hatter said, I wish I didn't understand what you are saying, but I do. I understand all to well, and for once I wish I felt left out, left out of this understanding.

Hang on? Hang onto what? It can be a thread...it can be a hand...it can be a branch...it can even be yourself!

What happens when you can no longer hang on or when that on which you had been hanging breaks?

[Lovely blog! Hope you do not mind my spreading the news about it...]

I hope you are doing well. I am worried about you. Your readers think you are an amazing person and wonderful talent. Please take care of yourself. I lost my twenty one year old son a few years ago to undiagnosed schizophrenia, so every younger person is valuable to me. Hang on, make it to the next day. Love Ann
